A new Foo Fighters album grows ever closer, accompanied by an HBO series in October — and according to Dave Grohl, it’ll be a nice alternative to the singing competitions of today.
“We’re doing things that we’ve never done before. And I want to say that it’s only eight songs but I think it might be our longest record because, as I was writing these songs, I had to take a cinematic approach,” Dave Grohl said.
Much like the Dave Grohl-directed feature, Sound City, the Foo Fighters’ HBO show will be shot documentary style, and will be “a love letter to the history of American music,” according to Grohl himself.
Dave Grohl is coming to your TV set again, this time with his own show.
Grohl’s first reaction to hearing ‘Superunknown’? “Holy s–t! This is gonna be huge! It was the perfect meeting of the Beatles and Black Sabbath.”
Minds were blown last week when surviving Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic got together to perform songs by their former band for the first time since Kurt Cobain walked the earth, about two decades ago.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony used to be a drunken, freewheeling event that would stretch to all hours of the night, today it is an arena rock spectacle stunning moments that won’t soon be forgotten.
“They spoke the truth, and people listened,” presenter Michael Stipe said. “This was not just pop music.”
Once Grohl and Novoselic sat down to discuss the whirlwind week they’ve been having, no time was wasted mentioning their fallen frontman, Kurt Cobain.
The upcoming full-length will be the band’s first since 2011 effort, ‘The Sea of Memories.’
