Emerging British band Palma Violets stopped by the KROQ Party House at Coachella to play a mini-set and talk about all things American.
“We came into Akron and we had nothing to do, so we went to a bar,” explained Stevie Appleby. “There was no one there except for us and the bartender, Steve. He was very old-school, talking to us and asking us about our problems. Then he was like, ‘I’m going to name a drink after you guys.’”
The L.A. band talked about giving away wristbands for Coachella on their Tumblr page by way of a scavenger hunt. The wristbands were stashed behind the popular local venue Silverlake Lounge.
“It’s terrifying,” laughed Gourley about the process of landing Danger Mouse to helm the new album. “We just got a call. We were actually in the studio, and he just wanted to meet up. It was like an interview situation. I felt like I was walking into an interview.
“We started making music when we were in high school, which I’m proud to say was in the mid-‘90s,” laughed Tegan of Tegan and Sara during an exclusive pre-performance interview. The duo took them through some of their 90′s favorites.
