U2: New Album May Be Out in the Spring

"May" is the operative word. Bassist Adam Clayton won't confirm anything.

It looks like it’s going to be a busy holiday season for U2.

Bono, The Edge, Larry Mullen, and Adam Clayton have been working on their follow up album to their 2014 release, Songs Of Innocence, but it’s not quite done yet.

“We’ve been working on a record and we’ve been hemming and hawing about whether it’s finished or not,” Adam Clayton tells Irish radio network RTÉ. “We’ve decided it’s not finished. We’re going to work up until Christmas.”

Carter Alan, music director and DJ on affiliate station WZLX in Boston, said that this is typical for the band.

“The problem on this forthcoming album is one they’ve had in the past – they keep coming up with great new material that they record constantly, rendering the older material obsolete,” Alan, author of U2: The Road to Pop told “The album never gets done!”

Songs Of Experience will be the band’s 14th studio album, and they’re hoping to have it out in the early Spring.

“I wish we were a little bit more definite about our scheduling because people have been expecting it,” Clayton continued in the interview. “But it’ll be out next year, maybe March/April. That’s the plan, but I’m not confirming it.”
