Week 2 of the NFL is upon us and we can only hope it lives up to the hype of week 1. There are a number of stat and data-based tools to helps us untangle each match-up; who to choose and who to avoid.
Our reliable prognosticator has been pretty solid, last week he went 2-1. Lets keep that going, right?
Underdog Special: Cleveland Browns vs. Baltimore Ravens
Vegas is a market- if a team is popular they’re more expensive. If a team is unpopular they’re cheap. With that being said the least fun it is to play a team, probably a better bet. Right now we know it’s not fun to play the Browns. Unfortunately the Browns lost RGIII last week but Mccown is just as good. Hold your nose and bet like a pro. RJ is picking the Browns to upset the Ravens +6.5.
Best Bet: Carolina Panthers vs. San Francisco 49ers:
In 3 years RJ has never laid a double digit favor. It’s a perfect storm for a blowout victory favoring the Panthers. Carolina has 10 days to get things right after their loss to last year’s champions Denver Broncos. In Vegas, they’re also ranked the 2nd best team in the league. San Fran also has their travel schedule playing against them by trekking back 3 time zones for a 10 a.m. kick off on the east coast.
Big Game (MNF): Chicago Bears vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Chicago is coming out as a 3 point favor by hosting Philadelphia. RJ points out that Carson Wentz is a big downgrade compared to Sam Bradford. Vegas reacted very negatively when it was announced that he would start, and one big game doesn’t change that. Whenever there is a drastic change in a offense or defense scheme it usually takes a little time to get adjusted so keep that in mind. The last thing Chicago wants to do is start 0-2 so they’re motivated to come out and make a statement. The bears are underrated with the Eagles a little overrated. RJ is choosing the Bears over Eagles by +3.
