Upon announcement of their Riot Fest Chicago and Denver performances, it was no longer a secret that Misfits were reuniting. But what wasn’t known is who would be on percussion duty. The band revealed today (Aug 29) that Slayer’s original drummer, Dave Lombardo, will be hitting the skins behind Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only, with longtime guitarist Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein Sept. 2-4 and again Sept. 16-18.
The Riot Fest dates will mark the first time the band has played together since 1983.

“The Misfits created the horror punk attitude and had a massive influence on modern rock, punk and metal,” said Lombardo in a statement. “It was an easy decision for me to join them for these monumental shows. I was honored to be asked, and am very excited to be playing with the band. Judging by the rehearsals alone, Misfits fans will not be disappointed- this is everything they could have hoped for and more.”
According to Danzig, he first met Lombardo in 1888 when his band DANZIG did four shows with Slayer. “Dave is one of the best drummers around, and I can’t wait for everyone to see him pounding MISFITS songs live for these special shows,” said Danzig.
