KROQ added Los Angeles unsigned band The Eeries’ new song “Cool Kid” to the playlist yesterday (listen below).
We have to be honest, we were tipped off to the band by former MCR frontman Gerard Way when he tweeted about them Saturday. Now an LA local himself, Gerard has great taste in music so we had to investigate.
One listen to “Cool Kid” on their website is all it took. There’s nothing better than finding an amazing unsigned, hard working local band and putting them on the radio.
Tracking down the band was surprisingly difficult. We wanted to get a high-quality wave file worthy of playing on the radio, but there was no contact info on the band’s website, just a free download link for “Cool Kid.” As we searched for the band’s contact info on the internet, we came across a photo of the foursome yet all it offered was a photo credit. We then Googled the photographer and got lucky. Turns out the band’s photographer is dating Brandon, the lead guitarist.
Comprised of singer/guitarist Isaiah Silva, guitarist Brandon Sweeney, bassist Eliot Lorango and drummer Nadir Maraschin, The Eeries are just a group of friends who live in Los Angeles that got together to make some music,” said Brandon. (Brandon, sorry about all our late night texts.)
Hopefully with a few spins we can bring this band some new fans. Seems Ms. Love is already on board.
