Lorde hasn’t even released a proper album yet, but she’s already reached No. 1.

The 16-year-old singer from New Zealand, whose real name is Ella Yelich-O’Conner, owns the top slot on the Alternative Songs chart this week with her song “Royals” off her EP, The Love Club. This week, “Royals” sits at No. 14 on the playlist of influential Los Angeles alternative station KROQ (a station.

According to Billboard, she’s the first female solo artist to do since Tracy Bonham hit No. 1 with her song “Mother Mother” 17 years ago. Yeah, the last time this happened, Lorde wasn’t even born yet.

“It’s beyond my wildest dreams,” Lorde recently told regarding the popularity of “Royals.” “I try not to let it freak me out too much.”

With a hit single already under her belt, Lorde is looking toward the release of her debut album, True Heroine, which Universal announced today (Aug. 12) will be released Sept. 30.
