The Lamb of God singer made the trek back to the Czech Republic in order to stand trial for the death of 19 year old fan named Daniel, who died from head injuries a few weeks after being allegedly thrown from a stage at a Lamb of God concert in May, 2010.

In addition to Daniel’s family seeking $530,000 in compensation, Blythe is looking at 5-10 years in prison if convicted for involuntary manslaughter. Prosecutors claim the singer pushed him from the stage, ultimately leading to his death.

After being arrested and detained for five weeks in Prague last summer, Blythe was given permission by the court to post bail and return to the U.S. pending trial.

In his first interview after returning to the U.S., Blythe told KROQ’s Kevin & Bean that he was prepared to face his accusers if asked, saying, “If I have to go, I will go.”

“I’ve kept my word,” Blythe told the court this morning via The Gauntlet. “I said that I would come back to court today and I did. I do not shy away from responsibility. I’m not a person who runs away from problems. But I do not want to be punished for something I did not do.”

Czech news agency Cesky Rozhlas reports the trial is set to run through Friday.
