With a line-up that already boasts such music superstars as fun., Stevie Wonder, Katy Perry, and members of the Glee cast, it has been confirmed that Seattle rock icons Soundgarden will be performing at President Obama’s Inaugural Ball on Monday, January 21.
The band’s frontman, singer Chris Cornell, is also slated for a solo performance at the adjacent Commander-in-Chief’s Ball, which honors the men and women of America’s armed services. Cornell will be joined by Alicia Keys, Brad Paisley, Marc Anthony, Jennifer Hudson and Jamie Foxx for the event. Both functions will occur at the Washington Convention Center over what’s known as Inauguration Weekend in the nation’s capital.
The resurgent Soundgarden returned to the rock scene with a vengeance last year, releasing the well-received King Animal reunion album last year, the band’s first studio full-length since 1996 release Down on the Upside.
Currently on tour, Soundgarden has upcoming shows scheduled for New York City (January 22-23), Detroit (January 27) and Chicago (January 29-30). Find a complete tour itinerary here on the band’s official website.
