Yeah Yeah Yeahs Buzzing Over Upcoming Album “Mosquito”

Yeah Yeah Yeahs have released three full length albums over their decade-long career. All three albums were nominated for Best Alternative Album, making the New York trio one of the most revered acts in the alternative music scene.

Mosquito, the band’s latest full-length endeavor is schedules to hit eardrums April 16.

With songs produced by TV on the Radio‘s Dave Sitek, and LCD Soundsystem‘s James Murphy, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Nick Launay, the band believes they’re latest album is “moodier” and more “tripped-out” than previous works. Singer Karen O recently explained that there are even touches of roots reggae and minimalist psychedelia woven throughout the album.

“It’s definitely different from the last album,” explained O to NME. “So I guess you could say that hasn’t changed about us! It’s all over the place. The sound of the record is, I guess, a bit more lo-fi sounding.”

“We would love for this music to make our fans feeeeel something, for it to stir some shit up inside of them, whatever that may be.” explained O in a press release issued today. “SO much feeling went into this record, it was the rope ladder thrown down into the ditch for us to climb up and dust ourselves off. I hope others can climb up it too; we’re excited to share the good vibes.”

“This is a feel good, food for the soul, chicken soup for the ears Yeah Yeah Yeahs record  – which doesn’t mean easy listening – it means kind of raw, kind of chaotic, kind of dreamy,” says O. “ Very us.”
