Most widely known for his roles as the evil wizard Saruman the White in the Lord Of The Rings trilogy, and villainous Count Dooku in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, the 90-year old Christopher Lee has just released a musical endeavor that may surprise many a fan, titled A Heavy Metal Christmas.
The classically trained actor’s two-song EP contains heavy metal renditions of “The Little Drummer Boy” and “Silent Night.” Lee’s bass vocals are front and center while guitar duties are held by the self-taught shred-tastic Hedras Ramos, known for his work with Guns N Roses, Switchfoot, and Kansas.
Surprisingly, this is not Lee’s first attempt at metal. In 2005 Lee sung a duet with Fabio Lione of Italian metal band Rhapsody of Fire, on the single “The Magic of the Wizard’s Dream” from the Symphony of Enchanted Lands II album.
Two years ago the acclaimed actor released his first all-metal album titled Charlemagne: By the Sword and the Cross with its sequel Charlemagne: The Omens of Death due in 2013.
On his 90th Birthday, Lee announced he would be releasing a new single Let Legend Mark Me As the King from his upcoming album Charlemagne: The Omens of Death, arranged by Judas Priest’s Richie Falkner. This would cement Lee as the oldest performer in the history of metal.
A Heavy Metal Christmas is now available now.
