Back in September, fans of dance music impresario Deadmau5, known to his family and friends as Joel Zimmerman, and celebrity-tattoo artist Kat Von D were stunned to learn of the seemingly odd pairing. The couple were instantly public with their affection for each other which made some think it was a publicity stunt. But just weeks later, the couple was caught on camera hand-in-hand at a Las Vegas music festival.

Shortly after publicly professing their love to each other, the couple split. Then, a month later, and to the surprise of many, Deadmau5 and Kat Von D not only made up, but got engaged. An internet addict who describes himself as “always connected,” Deadmau5 proposed Saturday via Twitter in front of his 1.8 million followers. Von D accepted and the online love fest ensued.
