As if recently transgendered Against Me! frontwoman Laura Jane Grace wasn’t facing enough obstacles, the newly female frontwoman now faces dental surgery after being hit by a microphone during an on-stage melee.

According to Punknews.org, the band’s Wilmington, NC show went sideways last night when a group of fans jumped on stage. Matt Herzog, a Charlotte, NC fan in attendance took to Facebook to express his anger at fellow fans saying, “I seriously f**king apologize on behalf of those douchebags that stormed the stage and stopped the show tonight. Please don’t think we’re all anything like those few assholes. Up until that point you guys were beyond sick.”

Facebook fan David Carta added, “I hope someone kicked that guy’s ass like he deserved for stopping an otherwise great show and that Laura’s mouth is alright. That guitar wasn’t cheap, with any luck that guy is feeling every bit of it in a hospital this morning.”

In true punk rock spirit, and seemingly unfazed by the loss of teeth, Grace dealt diplomatically with the incident and joked about the possibilities of a new grill.

Just days prior at Austin’s Fun Fun Fun Festival, MTV’s The Hive, caught up with bassist Andrew Seward who described the band’s upcoming album Transgender Dysphoria Blues as “f**king killer.” Seward continued, “I don’t know if ‘brutal’ is the right word, but it just sounds really f**king tough, and good.”

No date yet on Transgender Dysphoria Blues official release.
