Back in September of this year, Bay Area pop-punk legends Green Day crushed New York City’s Irving Plaza with an epic 40-song, two-and-a-half hour career-spanning show to a sold-out crowd of rabid fans.
Now, as singer Billie Joe Armstrong is in rehab dealing with substance abuse issues in light of his onstage meltdown at a recent radio festival, the band is satiating fans with a nearly 24-minute clip from the end of that Irving Plaza show.
Running through such fan favorites as “Hitchin’ A Ride” and “When I Come Around,” an animated Armstrong works extra hard to keep the crowd riled up, at one point even donning a pair of bright pink bunny ears.
Recently forced to drop out of a scheduled appearance at this year’s Voodoo Festival in New Orleans (monsters of rock Metallica have been booked to fill the slot), fans can tune into this week’s new episode of CSI: NY, where a clutch of the band’s new songs will be used to soundtrack the episode.
