Death Cab For Cutie‘s frontman Ben Gibbard announced the release of his debut solo effort Former Lives, along with an accompanying North American solo tour kicking off in Big Sur, California in late September.
While many fans have been anticipating a follow-up to Gibbard’s 2003 Give Up album with Jimmy Tamborello as Postal Service, Gibbard’s solo record contains songs he’s written over the course of the last eight years.
The Seattle indie-rocker explained in a recent interview that these weren’t left over songs but just ideas that didn’t work on recent Death Cab For Cutie albums.
Former Lives pre-ordering is now available in various special editions at benjamingibbard.net. Preview the first single “Teardrop Windows” below.
Former Lives is slated for release October 15th via Barsuk Records.
- Shepherd’s Bush Lullaby
- Dream Song

- Bigger Than Love
- Something’s Rattling (Cowpoke)
- Duncan, Where Have You Gone?
