As East Bay punk icons Green Day rev up for the launch of their upcoming three-album opus ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tres!, the band has released an uncharacteristically steamy music video for “Oh Love,” the first single from the trilogy.
Directed by Samuel Bayer, who’s been behind the lens for many Green Day videos including “American Idiot” and “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” the video features a gaggle of gorgeous models lounging languidly around a grimy rehearsal studio, flashing lots of skin, tattoos and side-boob as Green Day runs through the melodic, Beatles-esque tune. The ladies seem nonplussed by the band’s presence, but eventually get into the song, showing their approval with sexy dance moves and almost making out with each other.
According to Armstrong, there are two version of the video, a PG and R, of which he pefers the latter Tweeting, “My personal fav is the rated R…” No news on when 17+ year old fans will get to spy this racier version.
Green Day continues to add to their growing itinerary, having just been announced as performers at this year’s MTV Music Video Award happening on September 6.
“We’re excited to perform on this year’s ‘MTV VideoMusic Awards’,” frontman Billie Joe Armstrong said in a press statement. “MTV has continuously supported us during our career, and we can’t think of a better place to play our first TV performance for Green Day ¡Uno!, Green Day ¡Dos!, Green Day ¡Tre!”
