In a recent interview with KROQ’s Stryker, AFI members Davey Havok and Jade Puget talked about the theme of their upcoming sophomore album as Blaqk Audio, Bright Black Heaven, which boils down to lots of songs about sexy times.
“Generally, lyrically it’s similar to CexCells in that it’s very sexually charged,” Havok explained. “It deals with sexual scenarios of different sorts, of various cases and people and environments. It’s rather hedonistic in scope, for the most part.”
Havok added that the duo recorded “20 or 30” songs during the Bright Black Heaven sessions, and that some of them will “hopefully” be released in the future, or even on their next full-length album.
Bright Black Heaven is scheduled for release on September 11. The duo is set to do a string of West Coast dates starting September 6 at the Casbah in San Diego, wrapping up with an already sold out date at the Roxy in West Hollywood on September 14.
Blaqk Audio’s long-awaited second album, Bright Black Heaven, is scheduled for release on September 11 on the Superball Music/Big Death label.
