Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong announced via Twitter this weekend that the band will be playing a “secret” show Monday night at the Echoplex in Los Angeles. What qualifies this show as secret, we’re not sure.

Green Day is set to release their trilogy titled ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, ¡Tré! with ¡Uno! hitting stores September 25 in the United States. ¡Dos! on November 13 and ¡Tré! on January 15 2013. All three albums are available for pre-order here.

“This could either be the greatest thing we’ve ever done or the dumbest idea we’ve ever had,” Armstrong told New Zealand’s Rip It Up magazine. “But it’s like, f**k it, let’s live with the chaos. Let’s break tradition but at the same time stick to tradition. Put out your normal singles. Let things go viral. Let things happen on their own and not try to control anything.”
