After Travis Barker bummed out thousands of Australian fans by announcing he wouldn’t be joining Blink-182 on their upcoming tour Down Under, the tattooed beat-keeper has decided to make a go of it.

The happy announcement came from A.J. Maddeh, promoter of the Soundwave Festival scheduled for five dates across Australia next February.

Barker had previously said his crippling fear of flying after surviving the 2008 plane crash in South Carolina that claimed four lives (including DJ AM) and left him with permanent scars, both mentally and physically.

“I’m contemplating getting knocked out and getting on a plane to Australia,” he said in the August 2012 issue of Red Bulletin. “I want to overcome that eventually. When I do, I think it’s going to be Qantas. They never had a crash, never had a fatality – knock on wood. It’s something I want to overcome for me –and my kids are scared to death to fly. I want them to witness me overcome it.”

Late last month, Blink-182 had to cancel the last show of their 35-date European tour in Brixton, England, after Mark Hoppus was diagnosed with sinusitis and acute laryngitis.
