With the recent unveiling of Muse‘s official London 2012 Summer Olympic Games theme attracting interest from the rock crowd, it’s only fitting that the Olympic Committee would select the legendary electronic duo of The Chemical Brothers to contribute a song to the Games. The two-man big bass beats crew from Manchester, England are heralded as pioneers in the electronic genre and probably best known for their 1997 radio hit “Block Rockin’ Beats.”

Officially titled “Theme for Velodrome,” the song will help to christen London’s newly constructed cycling track. The Chemical Brothers’ musical contribution is part of a larger concept called Rock the Games, a forward-thinking musical addition to the Games promising to deliver five Olympics-specific tracks. Three tracks that still remain under lock and key have been composed by Dizzee Rascal, Elton John, and Delphic.The “Theme For Velodrome” is being compared to minimalist synthetic stylings of Kraftwerk and Daft Punk.
