Iration is a reggae/rock band formed in Isla Vista, CA and is made up of members Joseph Dickens (drums), Joseph King (Engineer), Cayson Peterson (Keyboard/Synth), Micah Pueschel (Guitar/Vox), Kai Rediske (Vocal/Perc) and Adam Taylor (Bass). All members met while growing up in Hawaii but formed the band after meeting up again in Santa Barbara, Ca. They have released two full length albums, Time Bomb (2010) and No Time for Rest (2007); as well as two EP’s, Sample This EP (2009) and Fresh Grounds (2011). The album Time Bomb hit #1 on the iTunes Reggae Charts and still charts in the top 10 to this day. Time Bomb included, “Turn Around” (10 weeks at #1 on San Diego’s 91X, #1 on Riverside’s KCXX, #1 on Santa Barbara’s KJEE, streamed on KROQ), “Time Bomb”(#1 on Santa Barbara’s KJEE), and “Falling”(iTunes Discovery Download, #1 on KJEE Santa Barbara, #3 KUCD HawaiI) and was followed by the Fresh Grounds EP which hit #1 on the Billboard Heat Seeker’s Chart as well as #2 on the iTunes Reggae Charts. The single from Fresh Grounds EP “Summer Nights” reached #1 on the iTunes reggae singles chart. However, the true sound of Iration is best heard live where they demonstrate their brand of soulful, melody driven reggae and rock and roll.
The band has just finished writing and recording their 3rd full length album Automatic. The album combines elements of reggae, rock and pop to create something very unique. Automatic includes production and instrumentation from Lincoln Parish of the band Cage the Elephant, as well as the band’s previous studio partner JP Hesser. The album also includes guest appearances by musicians Rami Jaffee (Wallflowers, Foo Fighters) and Jessy Greene (Foo Fighters, Wilco, Atmosphere).
Iration have been touring nationally since 2008 and have performed at festivals such as Lollapalooza (2011) , Wakarusa (2011, 2012) and Cypress Hill’s Smokeout (2010) ,as well as The US Open of Surfing (2010) and this Summer’s Sierra Nevada World Music Festival. This fall, Iration will embark on their 3rd national headline tour in support of their new record. The Hawaiian-raised musicians look forward to spreading their original sound and aloha spirit as far as possible while never forgetting to get a surf in when possible.
