[photogallerylink id=180748]Late Saturday morning the crowd at X Games was gathered around one of the most massive obstacles ever seen at X – the Hot Wheels Double Loop – which stood an incredible 6 stories high. Remember the big loop you played with as a kid? Well the folks at Hot Wheels brought this to life with drivers Greg Tracy and Tanner Foust behind the wheel of each car and set out to break some records.

Although Tracy had some suspension damage upon entering the loop, the duo executed it perfectly, both completing the loop and landing the jump immediately after. After chatting with KROQ.com about the massive amount of preparation that went into this, Tracy summed it up best with this:

“It’s putting a lot of faith into everybody, and ultimately when it’s time to go, you just have to go and put your faith into the people who are behind you – which I had 100% faith in. It was unbelievable to have the opportunity to do that in front of everybody at the X Games. It’s a moment I will never forget.”

“I had a bit of a suspension issue on the entrance on that 7G hit. That’s why it’s such an unbelievable record is that I really think we pushed the envelope on how high we can go and how many G’s we can take. Ultimately that’s the issue – how hard you can hit in the beginning. That’s part of breaking records is that you gotta push it a bit and that’s exactly what we did.”

“One thing I gotta say is that there’s so much coming. Stay tuned to HotWheels.com because this isn’t a one-trick pony. We’ve got stuff coming down the road, some things that will be released by the Hot Wheels Test Facility that’s absolutely going to blow everybody away,” says Tracy.

“We had the idea about 9 months ago. We always wanted to do a loop but it was a matter of figuring out which loop we wanted to do. Look out in maybe a month or two, we’re gonna set another world record,” said Simon Waldron, VP of Marketing at Hot Wheels.

The Hot Wheels Double Loop was the only non-medal event at X Games Los Angeles.

X Games Los Angeles continues through Sunday, July 1st in Downtown LA. Get more info and purchase tickets at XGames.com.
