Despite the popularity of Green Day’s American Idiot musical and Billie Joe Armstrong’s secret performance at Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg’s wedding, Green Day haven’t put out an album since 2009′s 21st Century Breakdown.
The band has been teasing their fans with quirky in-studio videos and announced that they were putting out a trilogy of albums–maybe in an effort to make up for lost time– called ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, ¡Tré!
According to GreenDay.Com, the veteran pop punkers have announced the official dates for the albums; they will be releasing the first two albums this year and one next year.
¡Uno! comes out on September 25 in the United States. ¡Dos! comes out on November 13 in the US and ¡Tré! will come out on January 15 in 2013. The albums will soon be available for pre-order here.
Both the first and second album will come out just in time for promotion at New Orleans’ Voodoo Festival in October.
In one of their teaser videos, the members of Green Day said that they “are at the most prolific and creative time” in their lives.
“This is the best music we’ve ever written, and the songs just keep coming,” they continued. “Instead of making one album, we are making a three album trilogy. Every song has the power and energy that represents Green Day on all emotional levels.”
“We just can’t help ourselves… We are going epic as f**k!”
