It’s been four years since fans have tasted new music from the Orange County punk quartet. After being hold up for months in their Southern California recording studio, The Offspring are finally set to release their ninth full-length album titled Days Go By. To kick it off, the band has just debuted the album’s title track (listen below).

“The record’s been done for a few weeks now and we’ve been sitting on it. Nobody’s heard it. You’re sitting on this thing and you want people to hear it, it’s always a really weird time,” says Noodles in an interview with KROQ Los Angeles this morning.

The band has been playing “Days Go By” in various forms for a few months but according to Dexter, it’s gone through many revisions. “It’s been a work in progress. We’ve been working on this record for a couple of years and this is one of the first ones we wrote. It’s gone through stages where we’ll play it for a while and say, you know that could be a little bit better… Usually people don’t know about that as we revise songs but now with the Internet it’s different. We were just in Japan and we were gonna debut a new song off the record and we knew that as soon as we played it in Japan it would be on YouTube… We’re basically playing it for the whole world.”

In the four years that the band as been relatively out of the limelight, they’ve been keeping the wheels greased with sporadic shows and month-long tours around the world.

When asked if there was ever a time back in the day if they thought the band wouldn’t make it, Noodles jokes, “We never thought we were gonna make it. We saw our friends NOFX, they were able to make a living at it, but we thought we were eventually gonna have to get real jobs.”

Does anyone else hear “Times Like These” by the Foo Fighters when they listen to this song?
Chords are different but timing and cadence are there.

Thought the exact same thing when I heard it on the radio today. Still a good song by The Offspring

Just caught the interview and heard you guys talking about the cover (re-release) of ‘Dirty Magic’. That’s awesome!! Another favorite of mine from the ‘Ignition’ album was ‘Kick Him When He’s Down’. Too bad to hear that the audiences didn’t know these songs when played at concerts. They’re awesome live!! Good luck with the new album.

ya, the new track is ok. pretty radio friendly. i’m sure there’s much more stronger material on the new record, so when’s it gonna be out?

Better than the last few albums The Offspring has released. Everything after Xnay on the Hombre has been sub-par…Hope this one will redeem them and bring them back on top.

Remember the self title, Ignition, Smash??? now THOSE were albums worth buying.

Smoking Hot as expected from our boys in the OC. World Class Rock anyway you look at it.
See you soon at the Weenie Roast. Always worth the wait…
