Headlining this weekend’s Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival is a daunting task, even for one of the most beloved rapper-producers in hip hop. In order to top last year’s giant LED ball drop by The Arcade Fire, Dr. Dre will have to bring something special to push his performance over the top.
Although most of Dr. Dre’s songs can be performed along side Snoop, a few are difficult if not impossible to complete without their original collaborators.
A source close to the project revealed that complex, highly technical movie magic will bring Tupac Shakur to life during Dr. Dre’s performance with Snoop Dogg. This would make for a realistic Death Row reunion of “California Love’” performers Dre and Tupac.
Word spread of Long Beach’s Nate Dogg being added to the holographic mix. The singer’s 2011 passing left a hole in a few key Dre-produced tracks. Nate Dogg’s smooth singing is integral in songs such as Dr. Dre’s “The Next Episode.”
Word leaked earlier this week that Eminem, Warren G and Wiz Khalifa would be joining Dre and Snoop on stage.
Calls to the production company producing the hologram were not immediately returned.
Last year Deutsche Telekom surprised Europe with a Mariah Carey Christmas concert in five different places at the one time. Thousands were convinced Mariah was there in person but in actuality she was a hologram.
