Nickelback Gets Apology (Sort Of) From The Black Keys

Months after delivering choice words for Nickelback, The Black Keys have apologized for their remarks – even if one of the members laughs it off as the “worst apology.”

In a recent interview with MTV Canada, drummer Patrick Carney spoke about seeing people at award shows who he has criticized, specifically mentioning Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger.

Carney told Rolling Stone back in January that he believes rock and roll is dying because “people became OK with Nickelback being the biggest band in the world.” He didn’t stop there, calling the band “s**t” and “watered-down, post-grunge crap.”

Nickelback’s response? They looked on the bright side:

But now Carney clarifies that he doesn’t blame Kroeger or Nickelback alone for the state of rock music.

“I didn’t mean to single him out,” Carney says in the video of Kroeger. “It just came out. There are much worse bands than Nickelback.”

Apparently that was supposed to be the apology…It was followed by singer Dan Auerbach sarcastically cracking “That’s better…Good job, dude” while Carney giggles at himself while muttering “worst apology!”

Before delivering the “apology,” the band talked about their taste in music in general, Auerbach calling himself a bit of a “music snob” and Carney adding “Well I don’t like bad music.”
