Johnny Depp and Marilyn Manson? On a song together?

Marilyn Manson will be teaming up with Hollywood actor Johnny Depp to cover a 1972 hit. Manson and Depp have teamed up to do a cover of Carly Simon’s 1972 hit “You’re So Vain” featuring Depp on drums and lead guitar while Manson takes on vocals as well as guitar.

A strange collaboration? Not necessarily. Depp and Manson have been chummy for some time. In fact, Manson’s song “The Nobodies” was used in Depp’s 2001 film “From Hell.” The pair then  spotted hanging out together in 2006 at the Pirates Of The Caribbean premiere at Disneyland. Manson has a fairly good track record of successful remakes such as Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of These),” Gloria Jones’ “Tainted Love” or Depeche Mode’s “Personal Jesus.”

Manson’s is public with his fascination with Hollywood legend which makes sense that he would choose to cover the song. Simon, who sings about an unnamed self-involved lover whose identity has yet to be revealed, even decades later. Experts point to Mick Jagger to Warren Beatty, David Bowie, Cat Stevens and former teen heart-throb David Cassidy.

The track will be a bonus song on Manson’s upcoming album Born Villain which is due May 1st. Purchase the new single No Reflection on iTunes.
