[pullquote quote="The song is meant to feel sort of like an abstract dream." credit="Shirley Manson"]“The song is meant to feel sort of like an abstract dream,” said Shirley Manson. “The inspiration came from a story I had read in The Los Angeles Times about the opium trade and also from watching the documentary “Restrepo.” It’s not literal in any sense whatsoever but it’s a song about disorientation and delusion and the human struggle to stay sane in the face of insanity.”

As Garbage prepares for the May 15th release of their fifth full-length studio album, Not Your Kind Of People, they’ve offered up the track titled “Blood For Poppies” in order to excite their already enthusiastic fan base. The song is available as a free download via the band’s official website. “We’ve always had the most amazingly loyal fans, and we wanted to show them just how much they mean to us by setting it free to them first.”

Die hard Garbage fans will want to mark their calendar to be at a participating retailer during Record Store Day (April 21) in order to snap up a limited edition white vinyl of the single, “Blood For Poppies.” The single will also feature the an exclusive remix by drummer/producer Butch Vig.
