These days, you have your Pop Goes Punk, Metal Goes Crunk, Hardcore Goes Swing and elevator versions of just about every pop song imaginable.

There are some interesting and often horrible random finds out there on internet. One such interesting track is the Super Morrissey Bros‘ cover of The Smiths’ “This Charming Man.” It’s not your typical cover, as it’s done in the 8 bit electronic style of 1980′s era Mario Brothers.

Would Morrissey approve? Unlikely, but it’s interesting none the less.

These songs are known as 8-bit or Chiptune. 8 bit songs are return to time when video arcade games simply didn’t have the processing power to play back complex music.

Can we look forward to more 8 bit covers from Super Morrissey Bros? Hopefully not.
