[First Listen] White Arrows “Fireworks Of The Sea”
With all this perfect weather Southern California is having, it’s only fitting that bands are starting to release music to match the mood.
Los Angeles-based [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]White Arrows[/lastfm], who are headlining the KROQ Locals Only Showcase March 27, have given a wonderful snippet of what to expect from their self-proclaimed “psychotropical” sound on their debut EP.
“Fireworks Of The Sea” is awash with synths and driven by a steady tribal beat. The [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Fools Gold[/lastfm]-style guitar work and calm, cooing vocal from singer Mickey Church makes a perfect blend of surreal and serene – easy, breezy danceable weirdness just in time for Spring.
White Arrows sound has gradually nudged their sound into a more confident, psychedelic realm yet danceable place over the last year. Their music has naturally progressed into this “psychotropical” sound, a label the five-piece band told us about a few months before – the recent bridge between White Arrows style being the Locals Only favorite “Get Gone”.
After a making the rounds at SXSW in Austin, TX, White Arrows will be headlining the Locals Only Showcase Mar. 27 at the Roxy, along with [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Kraddy[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Stone Foxes[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Honeydrip[/lastfm]. Their almost-finished debut EP Fireworks Of The Sea will be out April 3 from Votiv Music. (Peep the trippy artwork below.)
