This week here at KROQ.com I’ve been digging into KROQ’s past via MEMORY PAIN and posting songs that seem so out of place it’s nigh impossible they used to play on The Mother Ship.
Today’s choice is a bit different though - [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Howard Jones[/lastfm] was a staple on 106.7FM and a perfect example of the KROQ sound of the early 80′s that ended up spilling out to the rest of current music of the time. And today is his birthday! Happy HOJO day!
It’s just weird now, though, to listen to the number 78 song of 1985 and think this was a staple KROQ sound. It was so – cheerful and upbeat and nice (cue “Head Like A Hole” or “April 26 1992″). It’s even harder to believe how huge Howie’s hair is in this live video clip.
