It’s the President’s Day edition of Nothin’ but the 90′s Weekend, and for this special event, we wanted your help with one very important question. What question, you may ask? Read on…

In the world of Rock, we often like to break down eras by the decade. Since Rock’s birth in the 50′s, every decade seems to have its unique identity, from the Psychedelic 60′s to the New Wave 80′s.

Every era has spawned countless classic bands, and the 90′s were no exception. Bands like, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Pearl Jam[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Radiohead[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Foo Fighters[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Green Day[/lastfm], and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Blink-182[/lastfm] (just to name a few) remain just as active and influential today as they were during the 90′s.

Using your input from past polls, we’ve taken the songs KROQ played during the decade and narrowed it down to an elite list of the top twenty-five songs of the 90′s. The question: Which song was the best/most defining?

The rest is now up to you. Take a look at the list below and vote for your favorite song. The poll will be open all weekend, and come Tuesday, we’ll find out which song will be named, “Best Song of the 90′s.”

Think you know which song will claim the throne? Vote and find out!

No Mighty Mighty Bosstones “The Impression That I Get”?!?! That gets my vote

  • Cruncher

Rage Against The Machine is conspicuously absent!

  • sarah

True, the list is missing some great songs. It also has a few good ones though, out of the given choices it was pretty tough to choose a “best”

  • Oscar

Sorry no Tool, not a valid list

  • Bill

lack of Rage is startling. Still, no song defines the 90′s for me the way that =w= ‘say it ain’t so’ does

  • Justin

“Everlong” is still one of the best songs of all time! OF ALL TIME!!!

  • Jesus S.

    No Rage -__-

  • RC12

SWhos are the pussies who gave Blink-182 more votes than Smashing Pumpkins and Radiohead??? BTW only 25?? How come atleast Nine Inch Nails Closer isnt on this list????

    • Chris

I agree. Why isn’t Nine Inch Nails on here. You guys should’ve listed either “Closer”, “Hurt” or “March of the Pigs”. Those are the best compositions Trent Reznor ever wrote back in the ’90s.

  • ivan

you just know nirvana’s gonna win… why not top 24 songs that aren’t smells like a teen spirit

  • Danny

You gotta be f**kin’ kidding me! No Faith No More? No Bad Religion? No Social Distortion? No Soundgarden? No Depeche Mode? Not even that song by Spacehog (what’s the name of it, oh yeah, “In the Meantime”)? What’s up with that, those bands released some “best/most defining” songs back in the ’90s. They all even helped shape my music.

  • Kurt

Is this really a question? All good bands, but only one created a genre. (and spawned the Foos)

  • Kiki

    No Nine Inch Nails? Whaaat?

  • Aaron

    Pepper.

  • mark

soundgarden is missing, PANTERA is missing:’( and ofcourse ratm is missing.
and please switch smells like teen spirit with a better song like “in bloom” or “come as you are”

  • Noah Walter

    Dragula!

  • Filip Avramovic

I can’t believe Mad Season – Wake up is not on the list…

  • yugyffulfeht

    Even Flow – Pearl Jam

  • James Von Tersch

Without a doubt Smells Like Teen Spirit. Even though I think the song is a little overrated, even though I am a huge Nirvana fan, I still think it is the most influential song of the 90′s.
