While Kevin & Bean sat and chatted with the members of [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Sublime With Rome[/lastfm] out in front of the Gibson Amphitheatre this evening, they broke some news to fans and listeners everywhere – drummer Bud Gaugh will be leaving the band and tonight will the the band’s final show together (as the trio).

Wilson said he’s expecting a baby and is planning to focus his time on his family and their newest addition. Congratulations to Bud, we wish him the best. As for the future of the band, drummer Josh Freese (who’s worked with A Perfect Circle, Devo, Nine Inch Nails, and several more) will be taking over the drumming responsibilities.

Yawn. It’s not like Brad is alive or anything. The new Sublime is a farce.

I didn’t care about Sublime when they were alive, and I sure as hell don’t care about this crap.

    • Lightning

We know you love hard rock. We get it. It’s clear. But I love the fact that you read the story and commented on it. Insert diabolical laughter here.

      • http://concertconfessions.com Reverend Justito

I love a lot more than hard rock. I love indie rock, jam bands (dude Phish is my favorite band of all time), alt rock, thrash metal, black metal, country, hip hop and I even like some pop. You should know that one of my favorite bands is Kasabian, a band who is massive around the world yet criminally overlooked by your station despite numerous daily requests for weeks.

Now, back in the day, Sublime was average at best. A few drugged out kids making simple garage jams nothing wrong with that. While the band was no doubt going to have a major break out with their self titled third album, had Brad not passed my guess is they would have Kottonmouth Kings kind of success. Sure they would of had 1-2 albums and they would have headlined Irvine Meadows at the peak. But after making the same record another 3-4 times the gig would get stale and their success would die down and we would see them rocking House of Blues sized venues. Now, Brad dying took that album and that moment and immortalized it.

I always found Sublime w/ Rome insulting to fans of Sublime. This was not a band like Alice In Chains where a majority of the music and lyrics were writing by members still alive thus a dead junkie could easily be replaced. This was a band whose heart and soul died in a cheap Bay Area hotel room. It is my opinion that it was wrong to relaunch Sublime. It’s a well known fact that every post Sublime band these two guys launched failed. So hey, once you finally cleared the vault of demos and b-side we may as well do what Journey did and find the worlds best Sublime Karaoke singer to make a quick buck. I have more opinions on this, but will keep my mouth shut because I like your station :)

I read this article not because I am a fan of the band, but because I enjoy writing about music for a plethora of websites across the World Wide Web. Personally, I hope these two asshats call it a day after the Smoke Out, but that’s just my opinion. I was backing up Ted K and AV against the one troll who can’t even come up with something deeper than F U.

In closing, I would just like to say that I look forward to Ryan Adams getting a major push from your station. It was nice to read about him for a week here, and I am sure that was not just promotion for the Late Show gig, but because KROQ knows good music when they hear it.

So why the f**k are you reading this to begin with?? Reverend, pray to whatever god you believe in to make you smarter.

Couldn’t agree more Jason – Reverend kind of a stupid asshat himself. LOL!!

I hear that Nirvana with Joe Blow will be on tour next year. Only Dave Grohl has a career, so it’s just Krist Novoselic flogging Kurt’s songs.

This whole Sublime with Rome thing is such an embarrassment to what was Bradley’s amazing legacy.

Rome is a mediocre singer, who can’t even play guitar. To hear him sing the Sublime songs like they were HIS life’s story is simply degrading to Brad.

Don’t say this was every about the other band members “keeping brad’s legacy alive”. They could have done that with the Long Beach Dub All-Stars. This was a MONEY GRAB for two musicians who failed at every band they did that was not riding on Bradley’s coattails.

  • Missy

Rome is not a real musician! Hes just a smartass kid who got a lucky break! Looks like his luck has just quit the band!!! Thank you Bud for keepin it real!
