‘Tis the season for grubbing out on a turkey dinner, watching the parade, and remembering what we’re thankful for!

As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, we here at KROQ would like to share with you what music we’re truly thankful for this year!

[Album] Universal Pulse[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]311[/lastfm]

Anyone who know me, knows of my immense love for 311. I am ALWAYS thankful for their music. Of course, this year I was anxiously awaiting their tenth studio album release, and was not disappointed!  Although only eight tracks, each song provides sound stylings only 311 could create.  “Sunset in July” was a perfect first single, especially awesome when I saw them live this summer. Their latest hit, “Count Me In,” is getting lots of airplay on KROQ (I highly enjoy those song requests).   Another song I also enjoy on the album is the closing track, “And A Ways To Go,” which features a perfect combination of Nick Hexum’s smooth vocals, the funky-fresh flows of S.A. Martinez, and concluding with an upbeat jam from the very talented bassist, P-Nut, guitarist Tim Mahoney, and drummer Chad Sexton.

[Album] Yours Truly – [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Sublime with Rome[/lastfm]

Growing up in SoCal, Sublime was a huge influence on my musical taste.  Many fans like myself were admittingly skeptical about this “new formation” including new frontman, Rome Ramierez.  And I’ve got to hand it to the dude, he really held his own on this album.  Rome didn’t try to be Bradley, rather, he brought his own personality and sound to the band.  This album is full of tracks that maintain what Sublime fan’s loved — the laid back vibe, while mixing reggae and punk rock. I am also thankful for the track, “Take It Or Leave It,” which encourages me to turn up the volume on our KROQ speakers each time it plays.

[Album] Suck It and See – [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Arctic Monkeys[/lastfm]

I was waiting in anticipation to hear the latest album from UK fellas, the Arctic Monkeys.  I’m a big fan of their overall sound, and the oh-so-smooth vocals of Alex Turner (Alexa Chung dumping him? Bad call.)  Most recently, you could find me cruising the streets of LA in my car to work, with this album as my soundtrack. As I try to list my favorite tracks, I end up listing all of them. I guess that’s a good sign of a kick-ass record.

Unless I missed it, I am thankful that no one at KROQ was thankful for the fans of the station. That would have been cheesy to include.
