It’s safe to say [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Foster the People[/lastfm] are a exemplary model for bands these days. They released their first few songs for free on their website last summer, played a residency at a taste-making L.A. venue, built a strong online presence, then blew up this summer.
In a new video/ad for Microsoft’s Bing search engine, Mark Foster and Co. give a tour of where they got their start — from recording “Pumped Up Kicks” in Venice to playing their breakout residency at the Echo in January. It has been quite a journey in less than a year for the Foster trio.
I was one of those people standing all the way down Sunset Blvd. on the third week of their January residency at the Echo. While I didn’t come away amazed, it was certainly a band coming into their own that had a great live presence. FtP also did a live performance for Bing and 101.9 KINK in Portland, Oregon.
