[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Brandon Boyd[/lastfm], the lead singer of the band, says that they’ve been searching for a new, unique sound and trying to hone their composing abilities. After listening to the new songs, it’s clear they have found what they were looking for because with each song, there is a new style that has never been heard before. Hit the play button below for a full album stream of If Not Now, When.
The new album has tracks that are a bit slower than what we are used to hearing from [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Incubus[/lastfm], but each track has something that everyone can relate to. In words of Boyd, the idea for the album came from:
“I’m addicted to the news. There’s so much at play right now, so many important, catastrophic, beautiful things. This idea ‘If Not Now, When?’ seems terribly poignant,” he’s also stated about the album: “it’s about love and finding art and success in love. I never know what I’m going to be writing about until I’m actually writing about it. It’s what’s relevant in my heart and mind. There’s definitely a romantic undertone and overtone.”
If Not Now, When? (In Studio Recording)
This album differs from all of the bands previous albums because of how much they brought down the tempo. Although they have put out amazing slow tracks like: “Drive” and “Mexico” which became two of their most remembered songs, this album has a different feel. Check out the slow-and-trippy “The Company Of Wolves” for a taste of where Boyd and crew are going with the [lastfm]Incubus[/lastfm] sound. And get a sense for the new visuals the band are employing, in the video for their single “Adolescents,” below.
