Tuesday night was the official launch party of Rock The Bells 2011, the annual hip hop festival put on by Guerilla Union (who also do Smokeout, Paid Dues, Spring Gathering and more) which will feature [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lauryn Hill[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Mos Def[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Talib Kweli[/lastfm] as [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Blackstar[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Nas[/lastfm], KROQ-favorites [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Cypress Hill[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Raekwon[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Ghostface Killah[/lastfm] of the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Wu Tang Clan[/lastfm], and many, many more.

The announcement parties are always awesome, with freestyle master [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Supernatural[/lastfm] spitting the entire lineup in one flow and a slew of performances from some of the artists announced on the bill. This year’s party featured Havoc from [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Mobb Deep[/lastfm] performing, including “Shook Ones,” [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Evidence[/lastfm] from [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Dilated Peoples[/lastfm] (who was joined by Rakaa Iriescience for “Worst Comes To Worst”), [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Souls Of Mischief[/lastfm] performed “’93 Til Infinity” and our buddies [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Cypress Hill[/lastfm] ended the night with “How I Could Just Kill A Man” and “Insane In The Membrane.”
