Looking for an epic end-of-the-summer road trip? Look no further than the three amazing music festivals that were just announced, featuring plenty of cool bands. Austin City Limits, San Francisco’s Outside Lands and Pearl Jam’s 20th Anniversary Labor Day bash are a road trip.

If L.A. Rising just wasn’t enough to quench your mid-summer thirst, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Muse[/lastfm] will headline San Francisco’s Outside Land Festival August 12-14 at the stunning Golden Gate Park.

[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Arcade Fire[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Black Keys[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]MGMT[/lastfm] will co-headline along with Weenie Roast 2011 artists [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Foster the People[/lastfm] along side dozens of other bands during the three-day festival. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Pearl Jam[/lastfm] diehards are licking their chops today, as the Seattle grunge gods announced their 20th anniversary weekend festival for Labor Day Weekend.

KROQ-favorites [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Queens of the Stone Age[/lastfm] and Weenie Roasters [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]The Strokes[/lastfm] will be joining Eddie Vedder and company for the holiday weekend in Alpine Valley, Wisconsin. Ticket info is a click away here, and don’t forget to bring the lighter for “Jeremy”.

With its hundreds of bars and the always-insane annual South By Southwest Festival, Austin is known as “The Live Music Capital of the World.”

This year, Austin’s end-of-the-summer three-day music festival, Austin City Limits, celebrates its 10th anniversary in grand fashion. Kanye West, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Coldplay[/lastfm], Arcade Fire and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]My Morning Jacket[/lastfm] will headline, playing alongside with Weenie Roast contributors Foster the People, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Young the Giant[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]The Airbone Toxic Event[/lastfm].

“Locals Only” members [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Social Distortion[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Cold War Kids[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Fitz and the Tantrums[/lastfm] and AWOLNation will also be at the massive Texas-sized festival.

A musical-based trip to Austin is a must at least once.

Ummmm, not to rain on your parade but Phish is much higher up on the Outside Lands bill than Black Keys and MGMT. In fact they are the only act who will be allowed to play two 90 minute sets.

They are also the reason I am going to Outside Lands this year. Fun acts like MGMT, Decemberists etc are just an added bonus to the worlds greatest band:)
