Sublime With Rome

The wait is finally over! After years of anticipation, new music from Sublime (now dubbed as [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Sublime With Rome[/lastfm]) has finally surfaced!

Their new song, “Panic,” has the same familiar style as old school Sublime and features the same dub breakdowns, trumpets and catchy guitar riffs. The band has performed “Panic” already at some of their shows, but this is the first mastered version of the song to hit the web.

It’s great to see that Bud Gaugh and Eric Wilson kept true to their Long Beach style, and front man Rome Ramirez does an excellent job of keeping the spirit of Sublime and Bradley Nowell in the new ventures and direction of the band. While most bands struggle to maintain their original sound when replacing members, these guys figured it out and look to carry on the legacy of Sublime as Sublime With Rome.

After Stryker’s World Premiere of Panic today at 5pm, you tweeted your reactions @kroq:

Sublime With Rome entered the studio a few months ago to begin working on their forthcoming album Yours Truly, which is due out July 12th. This will be the first LP to be released on Fueled By Ramen, making them labelmates with artists like [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Paramore[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Panic At The Disco[/lastfm].

love the willingness to bring this forth. Keep it going guys, bradley would not have wanting the fusion to stop. Keep melting the pot.

All these f**kin’ haters… . Watch the interview, these guys are musicians , – there’s nothing more to say.

  • Lokerman

They had other bands that failed under different names. They had to wait a generation until no one remembered the real Sublime (which was Brad.) If they could stand on their own, they would. Instead they will make as much as they can off of Brad’s memory and break Brad’s mother’s heart by doing it. Where is the love and respect? Change the name please. Do the right thing.

If up to me, don’t play any of Sublime’s old songs for a while and when they do, make sure you say you are “covering” them even with two of the original three there. That way, people get to know the new Sublime with Rome and they’ll stop saying you’re just trying to be the old Sublime. 2 cents. Peace.

I don’t even know where to begin. Not only was that song a travesty of the highest order, the blatant cash grab that’s going on here is repugnant. I know that the counter argument here seems to be “well, they added this no talent ass-clown ‘Rome”s name to the band title so it’s a WHOLE NEW BAND” but if you’re vapid enough to fall for that sort of thing, then you deserve this terrible pile of crap. Honestly, this whole thing just makes me pity Eric and Bud. How desperate do you have to be to reclaim your “glory days” that you would be willing to spit on the grave of a friend? Hopefully Rome will emulate Bradley to the point of dying from a heroine overdose as well.

reknob. this guy is good and they’re lucky to have him. he’s a rock star anyway. Why should these guys lose everything they worked for because of someones drug problem. and what the hell does this have to do with Bradley’s mom. Theyre not spitting on anything the music has a life of its own and these are the guys that bring life to the legacy today. screw the haters long live sublime and whoever they choose to play with. Good job, Rome keep up the good work!

  • Stephen

I was doubtful, but fuck yeah. Really solid.

  • Alex

Lame. Rome is such a poser it’s sad. Song sucks.

  • hey

Always gonna be haters out there but this is good no matter what the name. For the naysayers go put out your own fucking Cd. I thought that Rome was Rome.

If the guys want to keep Sublime as part of name who f’ing cares. They were in the original band. F’ the haters. This group is not disrespectful to Bradley and the rest of the band still needs to eat. F’ the critics.
