[Street Date] Motörhead Still Rocking On 20th Album

Indestructible [lastfm]Motörhead[/lastfm] frontman, bassist and shouter Lemmy Kilmister has reunited the current incarnation of the seminal metal band to release their 20th album, The World Is Yours.

Twenty albums is a lot and often leaves bands grasping for some sort of new inspiration. Happily, on The Worls Is Yours [lastfm]Motörhead[/lastfm] is able to create a set of songs that, while not making any radicals departure from previous work, does manage to set itself apart – while of course rocking as hard as possible every step of the way.

Lemmy has always claimed that [lastfm]Motörhead[/lastfm] is a rock and roll band, not a heavy metal band, and The World is Yours supports this claim with a record full of bluesy-hard rock, that breaths new life into the classic band. Tracks like “Get Back in Line,” “Rock ‘n’ Roll Music,” and “Outlaw” are all solid, with excellent guitar work by Phil Campbell.

When that double kick drum gets going, as the guitar shreds and Lemmy howls, you know that [lastfm]Motörhead[/lastfm] still got it. These guys know what they’re doing and while Lemmy may be sporting a few more wrinkles around his trademark facial moles, he’s still sporting the muttonchops and still knows how to rock.

As a bonus feature to this album is a DVD featuring an interview with Lemmy as well as live concert footage of [lastfm]Motörhead[/lastfm] playing their classic hit, “Ace of Spades” and new track “Get Back In Line.”
